Hi Everybody,

as posted, the format for Dak-Kon is Extended (see Magic website) which basically covers all base sets from 7th to 10th edition and all expansions from Invasion to the present (including Morningtide) with the only four banned cards identified as:

Aether Vial
Disciple of the Vault
Entomb
Skullclamp

Dont forget as well that in addition to main Magic tourney on Sunday, Rob is running his Saturday evening Highlander and Serf tourney at Dak-Kon again this year. Also, for everybodys info we should have fairly decent prizes as I have acquired Wizards convention support once again (and there will be Magic NOT Pokemon cards, to be awarded).

However, if we want to be able to give away a full booster box as 1st prize, we need at least 30 players signed up for Magic and willing to pay the optional $5 extra reg. fee to cover such a lavish award.

My plan and hope is to have both a Seniors (15 yrs. & over)
and a Juniors division (14 yrs. & under) but this is contingent on the number of people in each age category who register. If I dont have enough Juniors

for a proper two divisions, then I will include / pair the Juniors in the main tourney but award medals and prizes to the 3 best Juniors for their division based on how they fare
in the main competitive pool of players. Please come with prepared deck-lists (including sideboards if you are using one) and you are requested to use non-transparent backed
deck-sleeves if your deck includes older cards with signs of wear that make any of them easily distinguishable from the remainder of the cards in your deck. The tourney will be more efficiently organized with numbered tables and round pairings will be posted by table number. There will be six rounds (50 min. each) of regular play and winners will be determined by match points (game points will be used only if need to break a tie). In the unusual event that there is still a tie for any specific placement (1st, 2nd or 3rd), then the tied players will have to share joint title for that spot (and summarily decide how to split prize awards of t-shirt, medal, and product) between them so as not to displace the next best ranked competitor from their respective prize slot.

I will have a hardcopy comprehensive rules summary onsite (printed July 2007) and although I'd like to also have computer access to Wizards website at the tourney, there is no wireless access at Native Sons Hall has wireless in order to help deal with the more finicky rulings issues.
